The Foundation provides gifts that help serve the needs of thousands in the Memphis area. The focus of the funding includes youth projects and programs, education, social services, arts and cultural organizations and civic organizations that promote quality of life. Although some grants are multi-year pledges, many fall in the one-year $5,000 to $25,000 range. The Foundation does not support public and private schools, churches and synagogues, nationally affiliated organizations and seminars as well as special events.

There are two funding cycles and deadlines for submitting grant requests. Organizations must follow the guidelines of the Foundation when submitting proposals.

Applicants are asked to submit a proposal letter of not more than two pages, giving a brief history of the organization, stating goals and services provided and a list of present sources of funding. An extra fact sheet may be attached if needed.

Additionally, the following information must be attached:
• A list of Directors and staff.
• A copy of the current operating budget, a project budget and the most recent audited financial statement.
• A copy of the organization's tax-exempt letter from the Internal Revenue Service.

All grant requests are reviewed by the Foundation staff and the Review Committee before presentation to the Board of Directors. Applicants will be notified of the Board's decision following the semi-annual meetings in the spring and fall of each year. Deadline for receiving requests are February 1 and August 1 of each year. Decisions will be made by the Board of Directors and all applicants will be contacted.

New applicants are required to set up an appointment before applying for a grant.
